ISDSK is largest institute of Dermatology. We are receiving 3000 to 5000 patients daily & around 8 lacs annually. That makes us largest research hub in the country regarding dermatological sciences which has been under-utilized so far.

HISTORY

Originally a center for STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) before 1947, then skin and social hygiene center (after independence) and leprosy filter clinic. In 1990 need for more professional hospital was felt because of growing population and increasing number of skin patients, a full-fledged hospital with 50 beds was established. This hospital is currently funded and managed by government of Sindh solely.

CURRENT OPERATIONAL CAPACITY

Despite limited resources, Dermatology Institute in Karachi has witnessed and exponential growth in the number of the patients. We are dealing with 4,000 to 6,000 patients / day that is over a million patients / year. Being government hospital we are not charging any fees and most of the drugs are made available to the patients without any charge. Our out-patient department is served by 65+ doctors, who are available 06 days / week and are fully trained from various Institutions and training centers in the country. We have more than 14 qualified Dermatologists. Most of the patients came from Karachi but there is a growing population of patients being referred from Sindh and other parts of Pakistan.

ADMINISTRATION

This hospital is governed by an efficient & qualified administration team under supervision of director Dr. Ruby Qureshi. This team includes additional director Dr. Dewan Lal, deputy director Dr. Aijaz Sario, additional director admin Dr. Fauzia Mangi, OPD incharge Dr. Shahida Memon & indoor incharge Dr. Munawar Sultana.
